Volunteer Program


The Lincoln City Libraries volunteer program is growing and expanding. We welcome comments and suggestions from our volunteers and the public that will enhance our programs and help the library effectively respond to the needs of the community.

 

Adult Volunteers

Shelving Assistance - Adult volunteers assist with returning library materials to the shelves. Shelving is a physical activity that includes bending, stretching and lifting. Schedules are flexible and time commitments vary.

Other Tasks - Many of the libraries have a variety of projects and tasks with which volunteers assist. Ask at the branch where you will be volunteering for more information.

 

Youth and Teen Volunteers

Summer Reading Program
- Youth in grades 6 through 8 are encouraged to volunteer at their local library to become Summer Reading Program Volunteers.Details are available from the library's Youth Services Department at (402) 441-8566 or contact your local library.

Government and Politics Volunteers - Many students elect to volunteer with various departments and branches of Lincoln City Libraries in order to fulfill their Government and Politics class requirement for graduation. See your high school for details. Call Outreach Services at (402) 441-8546, or the location of your choice, for additional information.

Teen Volunteers - Students in grades 6 through 12 who are interested in a long-term assignment, lending their time and talents to the benefit of their neighborhood, are encouraged to contact their local library about the Youth Volunteer Program. The purpose of this program is to provide the library with some much needed assistance while teaching youth basic library skills and giving them an active role in their community. Tasks may vary from organizing materials to helping with bulletin boards to reading and reviewing materials.

Teen Advisory Board - Teens interested in participating in a dialogue with library staff to gather their input on library programs and services for their age group. Please contact your local library for more information.
